Mighty Meals - Haiti
This project will provide a nourishing meal every day for needy school children in the urban poor areas of Haiti’s Ouanaminthe.
April 2011 - March 2012
Many needy families struggle to send their children to school at great cost to themselves in an attempt to improve their children’s future prospects and break out of poverty. Many families cant afford to provide a meal for their child whilst at school and as a result the children do not maximise their learning.
For £25/year a child can receive a nourishing meal every day whilst they are at school allowing them to focus on their work more thus achieving better results as well as improving their overall health.
To provide a nourishing meal every school day for needy Haitian school children.
Activities» A community run kitchen staffed by parents and volunteers will cook, serve and maintain this meal service.
Success will be -
There will be improved grades for children who receive a meal.
Children’s overall health will improve.
Longterm more well educated and healthy children will serve their community thus benefitting the community locally and nationally.
Political unrest or disaster takes place in Haiti. The renewal of the £25 annual subscriptions does not take place, or are not replaced.
A regular email update will be sent to donors. The Mighty Meals website will carry updated information.
