  • Need

    Need

Inactivity, obesity, limited access to high quality arts activities, increasing self esteem and confidence in children and working with children who do not have the opportunity to dance through financial or social disadvantage.

    Solution

Since 2008 our project has provided over 1200 children, many of whom had not had access to dance, with a free-of-charge provision during school time and as an extended schools activity.

    Feedback from pupils included:
“I love it when we make up our own dances.”
“It is one of my favourite sports.”
“It has inspired me to do more dancing.”
“I get to be myself dancing.”

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide good quality dance provision for children in North and East London boroughs.

    Activities

» Work with schools where pupils have limited or no access to dance.

Working with 400 children per year

    Aim 2

To increase children's confidence and self esteem.

    Activities

» Provide opportunities for children to be creative, perform and encourage participation for all abilities.

Positive feedback from pupils and recognised improvements recorded by teachers.

  • Impact

    Impact

Children have access to dance and may continue with this in secondary education or as a hobby.
Children have had the opportunity to engage in a dance activity and have produced creative dance pieces bringing a sense of achievement and positivity of success which will help motivate children in the future.
Children have improved self esteem and confidence, display this in other areas of education and maintain this with raised aspirations of their abilities.

    Risk

Reduction in Funding may mean we reach less children and have to reduce the number of sessions we can provide post July 2011.

    Reporting

We write comprehensive evaluation reports that include; feedback from pupils, feedback from schools, session evaluations from our Leaders and statistics. These are delivered every 6 months or as required by the donor.
