Shopping Escort Service

To assist blind and partially sighted people to do their own shopping by escorting them from their home to the supermarket, assist with prices and choice, escorting them home again and helping them to put shopping away.

  • Need


    Blind and partially sighted have difficulty in obtaining the correct brand of goods and selecting the best price. They also have difficuly finding their way around a supermarket and the various obstacles encountered.


    Our volunteer will assist the person with their shopping, finding the brand of goods they require and reading labels and prices, also being able to point out the two for one offers, etc. The volunteer will also look after the persons safety and help them to avoid obstacles that may be in their path.

    » By assisting the person to carry out their own shopping and have their own choice as to which brand they purchase.

    What success will look like

    Success will be acheived by the blind or partially sighted person choosing their own goods.

  • Impact


    Independence of choice of goods. Choosing the shops they wish to shop in and knowing which goods they have in their homes.


    Obstacles - our volunteer will ensure the blind or partially sighted person is safe at all times.

    Recruits and trains all volunteers. Makes monthly contact to ensure link between volunteer and client is working well.

    Volunteer - collects and escorts blind lady every week with her shopping. June assists with finding way around shop, choosing products and prices.

    Mr George Forsyth

    Volunteer - collects and escorts client shopping once a fortnight. Assists with choice and prices. Assists with putting shopping away.
