Community Enterprise Unit

The unit provides work related opportunities that include a range of practical activities for LDD adults to learn and develop skills for employment and independence. Development and progression are promoted for clients to gain experience, enhance skills and embed learning.

  • Need


    We are working with the most vulnerable people in society to ensure they have a good quality of live. By ensuring they can participate in the community and promote the value of community engagement.
    By providing skills development and enhancing quality of life, we will assist people with learning disabilities and difficulties to engage and participate in a positive way. In turn this will reduce the barriers towards people with learning disabilities.


    By improving confidence, skills and opportunities we will work to support and assist progression for people with learning disabilities and difficulties in the community

    Aim 1

    Provide accredited provision for people in the enterprise unit to promote the skills development.


    » Provide accrediteed provision in their choice of arts and crafts to ensure skills are national recognised and rewarded.

    What success will look like

    Success will be clients achieving qualification to allow for progression to additional skills or towards independance.

  • Impact


    The long term challenge is to change the general mindset towards people with learning difficulties and to ensure they


    Participants leaving our services before completing the awards. We will manage this by ensuring all participants are structured and progress monitored on a modular basis.


    Funders of this project will receive a quarterly emails reporting on the project progress and achievement to date. This will include any necessary changes that have been made to the project, and changes within circumstance of participants. All funders will also be invited to celebration events.

    We are based within the London Borough of Waltham Forest, we have clients using the services from both inner and outer London.


    All disable people with learning difficulties, who come from all racial groups and we do not discriminate by sex, gender or age, all welcome.

    Ellingham Employment Services is a charity founded in 1985 that works with people who have Learning Disabilities that may make it difficult for them to find employment. We run programmes designed to provide vocational guidance and prepare people for the world of work. Our team of dedicated professionals have gained considerable experience and expertise in this field of work. We are experts in the area of vocational guidance and training of people with learning disabilities.
