The main purpose of OBAC is to support disabled people on matters affecting their lives. To represent and ensure they that their interests are promoted and protected. OBAC vision is to create independence for the client group.

Most disabled people want to work but some of the most challenging barriers include lack of physical access and workplace accommodation, lack of accessible transportation, stereotypic attitudes on the part of employers, lack of skills training programmes that provide individuals with marketable skills, lack of employment-related services, and poor esteem. All of these obstacles also place BME disabled people at risk of becoming more socially vulnerable.
OBAC wish to deliver ESOL, Skills for Life and ICT classes which offer accredited training that create pathways into employment, further education and training in basic, soft and key skills. We also wish to scale up our work based training which would enable adults to gain knowledge, skills and confidence which enhances their opportunities for employment in the future.
To develop the English speaking skills using innovative methods

What success will look like
Success will be having between 25 - 50 disabled people from ethnic minority backgrounds will have increased English speaking skills. Individual Learning plans reviewed/evaluation.
To develop the confidence and self esteem of learners through creative English by using photography
Activities» 3 Visiting places of interest such as the museum, park and market.
» Learners will work in groups/teams to build a story. Learners will do a presentation to the class, this will cover the narrative of the picture taken
What success will look like
Increased English Speaking skills through presentations to class.by using learning in an formal and informal setting. Team work with selected team members will boost confidence.
We will demonstrate success by the increased levels of participation of disabled people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
An Exhibition event will be planned to enable learners display their photographs
Lack of interest of beneficiaries to attend workshops. We would need to review our methods of communication by consulting with the beneficiaries via phone or meeting to ascertain whether the information is clearly understood and how we can increase interest.
Deadlines are not kept for the workshops. Key staff working on the project would need to have a contigency plan and maybe run smaller workshops.
Donors will be invited to the workshops. Monthly reports are produced by all staff and we will agree to submit a quarterly report of activities to donors. This will include any gaps and recommendations for implementation. This will be emailed to the Donor.

OBAC is situated on the boardersof the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. In terms of our proximity to local transport we are easily accessible by bus, underground and overground trains. We have a multipurpose centre which is adapted for disabled people.
We have developed close links with service providers in London and also have representation on public and voluntary sector agencies. We are acknowledged to be strong and professionally run organisation.
OBAC has been delivering projects to disabled people, in particular the blind from ethnic comunities in our core areas of work; (a) Supported Services (b) Work and Poverty. The project fits into OBAC overall vision of support the independence of disabled people. 100% of the Board are disabled and we have over 1,000 service users living across London. Apart from the users other local organisations will benefit from the workshops.
OBAC has for the past 20 years of delivering successful funded projects addressing the needs and trying to alleviate proverty amongst disabled people. We have worked in partnership with a number of main stream providers. We have used this training method to deliver self advocacy training and our service users found this very engaging and interactive. We have also identified that learners of basic English classes like to learn in formal and informal learning settings.

Project Manager - Henry will support the director in delivering, planning and promoting the workshops.
Sessional Tutors - Clifford Eyabunoh
Clifford will develop the lessons plans and deliver training with a group of volunteers. They teach the learners how to take photographs.
