Supporting Sustainable LEADers
This project will equip outstanding leaders from around the world with skills for sustainable decision making as well as offering them a lifelong support network of their peers as a resource to help them address sustainability challenges at local, regional and global levels.

The challenges of sustainable development are huge – poverty is deepening, populations are growing, natural resources are diminishing and the international community has failed to tackle climate change effectively.
LEAD believes that people are the key to change and that complex sustainable development challenges can only be tackled by investing in leadership.
Our principal activity is training designed to equip a new generation with the skills, knowledge and support network to steer humanity onto a sustainable path. Since 1991 we have worked with 2200 leaders from over 90 countries.
This project will support leaders who would not otherwise be able to join the programme due to lack of funding.
To equip 200 new leaders with the skills and knowledge for sustainable decision making.
Activities» National training module on leadership principles and practice, personal awareness and national sustainability challenges.
» Regional training module on strategies on sustainable development, action led projects, advocacy and influencing and regional integration dynamics.
» International training on cross cultural communication, ethical decision making, systems thinking, stakeholder engagement and reflective practice
Success will be recruiting 200 outstanding leaders from around the world and having them graduate from our tried and tested leadership and sustainability programm
Support 200 new leaders in their activities by providing them with access over 2200 of their peers.
Activities» Registration and introduction to the network using an online community and social media tools.
» Space to support new initiatives and ideas through feedback, mentoring and access to key contacts.
Success will be integrating the new leaders into our existing network and successfully matching up ideas and interests to foster new national, regional and global initiatives.
The project will start to address challenges of sustainable development at local, regional and global levels by equipping people that are in a position to make a difference with the skills, knowledge and connections to do so.
We will demonstrate the success of this project by monitoring action led projects initiated by participants involving the network and from regular annual feedback from the participants themselves on changes they are making in their work and communities.
There is a risk that we may not be able to achieve a good balance of participants (from across sectors and regions). We have addressed this by setting clear targets and milestones for achieving this.
There is also a risk that not all participants would be able to attend an international training event due to travel costs and time restraints. We have addressed this by creating virtual participation tools as well as engaging potential funders to cover travel costs.
Funders of this project will receive a monthly email report on the project detailing the ongoing and forthcoming activities, and any necessary changes that have been made to the project plans.
