'F.UN Kidz on the Move': an innovative, exciting project, enabling families to participate in adaptive activities(skiing,skating, donkey sanctuary, bowling, Support Groups; Fun Club; Well-Parent complimentary therapy service for members/parents of newly diagnosed children.

    Need

    The cost of having a child with a disability is not just financial; it is the impact on family life and cost to emotional well being from anxiety, isolation and worry. Disabled children have the same needs as other children but are often unable to access main-stream activities.

    Solution

    Charities are often the first port of call. By offering valuable support to families we aim to reduce stress and frustration experienced as part of their daily, often split lifestyle by providing opportunities enabling children with sensory, physical, learning the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, gain confidence and self–esteem.

  • Impact

    Impact

    Families with a disabled child accessing our service will have the opportunity to meet others in similar situations, making lasting friendships. Our disabled children gain invaluable confidence and self-esteem.

    Risk

    The major risk is a lack of ongoing funding in the current economic to carry on our project and provide invaluable support to families next year. We have a programme of fundraising events for 2011,

    Reporting

    Our activities will be monitored by means of parent feedback, questionnaires, photographs all done in a data protected manner.
    These can be relayed to donors.

    Location

    The greater Warrington area, (Cheshire).

    Beneficiaries

    There are over 600 families with a disabled child in Warrington.
    We are not specific to any disability. Currently supporting over 110 families, many of whom are one parent families from low income areas.

    We are the main registered charity in Warrington with a high profile, and our work is regularly promoted in the media, local radio and on our website.
