UTR -(Unite together and rap)
To get groups of vulnerable and hard to reach young people together so they can let their voices be heard through Rapping. Most of these young people use the streets as a leisure time activity which often results in turning to drink, drugs, gangs and crime.
Get Sorted Academy of Music
Anti social behaviour, gang culture, racial discrimination, drugs and crime. By providing a positive environment, the young people will be able to come in the evenings, create their own music, work on lyrics and express their throughs and feelings through their raps. Less young people will be using the streets as a leisure time activity and more young people will be actively engage doing something they enjoy whilst expressing their thoughts at the same time.
By providing a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. By providing staff who understand their needs and can help them with their individual projects. By nurturing their music and creativity and helping them to make their voices heard. By providing them with equipment so they can be creative. By setting up a record label so they have a positive outcome for their work. By setting up venues so they can show their talents. By bringing in rapping ambassadors so they have role models.
Enrol 100 hard to reach and vulnerable young people on to the UTR project.
Activities» Meet and talk to young people about the project.

Activities» To organise song writing workshops and develop ways of writing lyrics. Use of poetry, rhyming dictionaries and other writing forms

To organise and perform at a chosen venue with a local well known rapper who will headline the event
Activities» Identify a suitable venue and produce flyers and posters to advertise the venue when they are performing and to distribute the information

To become peer mentors, volunteer and to look at their next steps.
Activities» Opportunities for peer mentoring and volunteering will be offered to all young people
» For older students, support will be offered for those who want to take their next steps in their career as performers/rapping artists
» To produce a CV, portfolio of their work and a promotional package which can be passed on to others.

To release the best tracks on to a digital compilation which will be released on Amazon and I Tunes
Activities» Young people will choose their strongest tracks from their portfolio of work.
» A voting panel will be set up to choose which tracks will go onto the compilation.
» Young people will produce original artwork to accompany the digital release.
» The best tracks and data will be sent to a digital distribution company.
Success will be...the digital compilation and the number of hits made.
Less young people using the streets as a leisure time activity. More young people actively engaged and focused. More young people working together doing something they enjoy. A career focus for some and opportunities of volunteering and peer mentoring for others. More confidence and self esteem in the young people.
Young people staying focused as we will be working with hard to reach vulnerable young people. This includes those with behavioural issues, mental health issues, at risk of crime and drug users. We already work with disengaged young people at Get Sorted and have risk assessments in place.

Our building is based in the town center of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, making it accessible for young people using public transport. Get Sorted is well known in the borough of Rotherham and has a very good reputation for working with children and young people. Rotherham used to be a steel and mining area, but is now a deprived working class community with a high proportion of Eastern Europeans and ethnic minorities.
Young people who are deprived and on the verge of being isolated from society. This includes drug users, those with behavioural and mental health issues, those on the verge of exclusion from school, young offenders, those from Eastern European communities and those from ethnic minorities. Young people aged 12 years to 18 years old will benefit from the project.
We are a unique project which meets the needs of children and young people by using music and the arts as a hook for engagement. We firmly believe that music changes people's lives, everyone counts, everyone is welcome and what the young people want to achieve, we aim to deliver. Our staff are young and friendly, child centered and our building provides a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.

Glen is our multi media specialist and delivers a range of multi media projects including rapping, animation, video work and music technology.
Dave takes the lead with our social cohesion groups. He is a guitarist and songwriter and supports in the multi media department.
Jane is our finance worker and is responsible for paying wages, our accounts and all project financial work.
Krysia is our administrator and first point of call for all students and visitors.
