Information Officer Funding
The Information Officer is key to providing many of the services to disabled people within East Sussex. We did have a promise of funding for this position for 2011/12 but unfortunately we have been let down by the donor and now desperately need to find funds to support this position next year.

Need
Need
There is a lack of easliy accessible information and advice for Disabled People within East Sussex. There needs to be a central point for disabled people, their families and carers to be able to contact to obtain advice and find out further information on benefits, equipment, transport and other such issues. Whilst this position has existed within ESDA for quite some time now, due to the recession and government cut backs funding for this position is now much harder to obtain.
Solution
Our Information Officer provides a central person for disabled people to contact when trying to find out information re benefits, equipment, transport and all other matters to help disabled people, their families and carers within East Sussex. Our officer can also help disabled people in dealing with benefit reviews and claims which are currently all under review and which some people find difficult to deal with on their own.

Impact
Impact
The long term change will be greater indepedence for disabled people. We will be able to demonstrate this success by recording our enquiries into our database and monitoring our clients outcomes.
Risk
Any risks are minimal, but the major ones will be as a result of any reduction in funding of services by the government. Changes in legislation may affect benefits available to disabled people.
Reporting
We will be happy to provide feedback in any form that the donor may require.
