Magic Carpet is aiming to involve as many people as possible in Exeter Open Studios in November 2011. This will give our participants with learning disabilities, mental health issues and carers the opportunity to exhibit alongside other working artists in the city.

HIstorically our participants have not been included in Arts Festivals within the City.
Magic Carpet and this project will support people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and carers to take part in the Open Studios and have their artwork exhibited and publicised. We will run a number of inclusive workshops specifically to create artwork for this event. We will also involve local volunteers and our workers wjho are also artists.

Activities» With support we will be able to run workshops with high quality arts materials that will create artwork for the exhibition.
Success will be... involving up to 80 vulnerable people in the workshops
To exhibit and publicise (with Exeter Open Studios) our participants artwork in a community setting.

Success will be... having over 200 visitors to the exhibition and making everyone involved proud and have a real sence of achievment
Developing self confidence for our participants and an awareness amongst the visitors of the vast talent within thier city.

We will invite to the exhibition and updates on progress will be posted on a special webpage.

Our participants will benefit from having the opportunity to be involved in such an event, and will gain self confidence and develop a belief in thier creative ability and sence of belonging to the community in which they live.
Visitors and residents will gain a greater understanding of the issues faced by our particpants.
WE run a wide range of arts activities in the city and East Devon for vulnerable people.
