  • Need

To help the disadvantaged and struggling community and voluntary groups. These groups are the sort of organisations that everyone knows about but few think about. The youth clubs, the play groups, resident's associations, children's sports teams, social groups, heritage projects, townswomens' guilds'. The list goes on. The groups that provide a vital service to so many and yet find it amazingly difficult to raise funds to carry on providing their services for little or no charge.

The income generated from the endowment fund will be distributed each year as grants.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To tackle poverty and social disadvantage in East Staffordshire.

» The distribution of grants will help community groups to continue and grow, thereby helping residents of East Staffordshire.

    What success will look like

The continuation of groups in the area will prove the success of this fund.

  • Impact

Long term ambitions for the fund include the formation and continuation of the many community groups who are constantly working for the good of the people of the area.

Many community and voluntary groups provide fantastic resources and support, but all too often they go unsung. This fund will help to ensure that they receive not only the funding, but also the recognition, they deserve.

The Staffordshire Community Foundation provides an annual report which can be requested by anyone. In addition, significant donors can request an extra involvement. This could be anything from receiving a regular report to helping decide where grant money should go.

  • Background

East Staffordshire extends from Uttoxeter, near Stoke on Trent, east to Burton on Trent, close to Derby and south to the border of Lichfield.

Whilst the area is not as financially deprived as other areas, due to the sparse distribution of villages, it makes social interaction and social facilities in certain villages difficult to provide.
There are pockets of financial deprivation, mainly focussed on the largely formeer industrial areas, such as Burton on Trent.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Being based locally the Staffordshire Community Foundation is aware of the needs of the local community. We are close enough to get out to visit these organisations and have good connections with Staffordshire Moorlands Community & Voluntary Services, which offers support and capacity building to community and voluntary organisations.
