LIFE - Lifestyle Information for Everyone
We want to provide a holistic project that addressess all of the needs of our clients from work and benefits through to health and fitness.
We will work with each person to create an individual development plan that is client focused to achieve their aims and aspirations.
April 2011 - March 2013
Charity information: Killingworth Community Consortium
The project is addressing unemployment by helping clients to gain the skills, confidence and motivation to achieve and sustain employment and therefore become less dependent on benefits.
The project will adress health and fitness by providing a range of opportunities to attend workshops to gain information about diet and nutrition, general health and fitness. Workshops will include healthy meals on a budget using seasonal products and fitness sessions using everyday items.
We will help solve the problem of unemployments by providing Work Clubs where we will help individuals create a Job Ready workplan. Clients develop the skills required for todays labour market and also provide advice, information and guidance to not only gain employment but to sustain it. Practical help will also be provided by producing CV's, providing training to request/ complete appliction forms, interview skills etc.
We will solve health & fitness inequalities by creating awareness.
To develop community activitiy and learning opportunities
Activities» Providing advice, information and practical support to help people gain and sustain employment
» Provide a range of workshops, activities and events to create awareness of the importance of health and fitness
Success will be...providing clients with the tools and resources which will empower them to gain and sustain employment and to see clients achieve new skills
By helping clients to gain new skills which will help them gain and sustain employment they will become less dependent upon benefits and more financially independent. This will not only improve the local economy it will also impact upon the health and welfare of each client as statistics show that unemployment can have a major impact on the individual and extended family whereby medical intervention may be required.
Funding is the main risk to the project. All premises used are risk assessed as are all activities/events/workshops.
We will provide regular written reports documenting the progress of the project and highlighting any external impacts that may affect the project. We would also be happy to give a presentation of the work at any point during the funding period.

There are pockets of high unemployment within our operating area and we are situated within former mining communities. In the past year two manufacturing factories have closed and a number of small employers. This trend seems set to continue. We receive many referrals from other agencies and by word of mouth.
We have been established for 12 years and have a good reputation and excellent success rates. We have significant experience of working within the community and have systems and procedures in place to carry out the project. We also have a number of volunteers who help us and in 2008 we were awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of our excellent work in the commmunity
