Violence Against Women & Girls: Domestic violence is physical, sexual, psychological or financial violence that takes place within an intimate or family-type relationship and that forms a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviour. This can include forced marriage and so-called 'honour crimes'. Domestic violence may include a range of abusive behaviours, not all of which are in themselves inherently 'violent'. (Women's Aid)
Any woman can experience domestic violence regardless of race, ethnic or religious group, class, disability or lifestyle. We bring the subject out into the open, giving a platform for local groups to advertise support services. We disseminate information about how and where to seek local help. Each performance raises funds for a local refuge or support group. HURRIED STEPS is part of a loose collection of companies performing globally. We aim to provide the event FREE to the audience.
To present the event free in order to raise awareness about violence against women and girls.
Activities» We will deliver the play as well a liaise with local service providers who will participate in the post-show discussion.
We have written feedback and recommendations from audience members and field workers. They have been made more aware of the issue.
To work with young people
Activities» We are raising funds to work with the Youth Offending service in Brighton in March and with the domestic abuse support services in West Kent.
That young women will be more informed and empowered.
We hope to reduce the incidents of domestic violence. We draw attention to perpetrator programmes as well as support for victims. We hope to attract women to discreetly come forward for support. We have previously succeeded in recruiting volunteers to train as domestic abuse support workers, they came forward at the end of the show. Young people will relise that domestic abuse is not normal.
Lack of funds affects this project, we can only perform a show when we have funding. We are continuously fund raising.
We will email them with the dates of the forthcoming shows and keep them uptodate with the feedback that we gather at the end of each show. We have had online reviews. We have an informative website and Twitter feeds. A performance by young people on International Women's Day at the Dome Brighton

We will tour Nationally in November to mark the International day for the Elimination of violence against women and girls. we already have 95% funding for one of the shows.
One in four women experience domestic violence regardless of socio-economic class. There is a well-documented effect on children and similarly there are costs to the health and social services. By raising awareness through the performance and through distributing the text to schools in the Kent area, and by discussing the issue, the benefit to the public will be that they will be aware earlier on when a relationship is abusive and will know where to access help and information locally.
Our charity has grown out of a previous company called Muzikansky, also a charity, we delivered arts projects in areas of deprivation for seven years. We have high artistic standards as well as the experience of working with community groups and partnering with support services.
