Taste of Arabia

The idea of the project is to bring distant cultures closer through the love of food, the idea of the project is to tackle discrimination and stereo typing. We are hoping to deliver cooking curses and develop a social enterprise which will create employment and engage the hard to reach individuals

Charity information


  • Need


    Raising funds for capital costs, raw materials and staff salaries.


    We have accessed a short term loan of £20,000 which has been invested in training the individuals with the necessary skills required. We are searching for additional funds to get the project off the ground.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    Create employment


    » Deliver learning and training to individuals ensuring that they have necessary skills to move in to employment or run a enterprise.

    Success will be creating local jobs.

    Aim 2

    Deliver learning


    » To dleiver a six weeks cooking course which will develop individual cooking and prepartaion skills, along with Health & Safety and enterprise skills.

    Success will be individuals learning life skills.

    Aim 3

    Tackle Racism and Stereo Typing, create cohesion.


    » To deliver cooking classes introducing cultural cuisine from the mIddle East and North African Regions.

    Success will be people learning more about other cultures which will increase their knowledge about other cultures. Brining people together from different backgrounds.

    Aim 4

    Engage people suffering from Mental Health conditions or health conditions i.e obesity.


    » Embed health awareness within the courses, support inidividuals in tackling their mental health condition or health conditions.

    Success will be people feeling happy and enjoying life, getting involved in community projects or employment.

    Aim 5



    » Encourgae people to grow food at home, simple food which would reduce the drive to the supermarket i.e corriandar, herbs, lettuce.

    Success will be reducing the carbon footprint.

  • Impact


    The long term changes will be employment, learning life skills, learning about the environment. Success will be demonstarted via people moving in to employment or enterprise, being happy.


    Not rasing the required sum. If not, then we aill approach the bank for a loan.

    Dewsbury, West Yorkshire and the retail outlet will be in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.


    People from deprived communities, BME, people suffering from mental health conditions or health conditions, people suffering from mental health, women from the BME communities whom otherwise would be excluded due to family or cultural barriers.

    We have carried out short test projects to see if it will work before commencing a larger project. The results and feedback have proved successful. We have spent 2 years of research in to this project to ensure that the project will be successful.
