  • Need

    Need

CARE sees access to affordable financial services as central to addressing poverty and it has been promoting the provision of microfinance for more than two decades. Of the world's 500 million micro and small business owners, less than 2 percent have access to financial services and the business training vital for the success of their enterprises.

    Solution

Lendwithcare.org will enable people in the developed world to connect with someone in the developing world who needs a loan to start or grow their small business, working their way out of poverty.

The whole loan goes to the entrepreneur and is paid back to the lender to be re-loaned to another entrepreneur thus being recycled.
For this reason, we also need donations to cover the cost of running lendwithcare.org and support our wider work using microfinance to lift people out of poverty.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide microloans to entrepreneurs who want to work their own way out of poverty.

    Activities

» Facilitate the provision micro loans to poor entrepreneurs along with training to help them grow their business

Success will be...the number of people receiving a loan from lendwithcare.org and then repaying that loan showing that their business is a success

  • Impact

    Impact

    To lift families out of poverty. Indicators such as;
    household income levels
    children in school
    type of housing
    employment created
number of meals eaten per day

    Risk

    * that entrepreneurs fail to repay their loans. We choose our Microfinance Institution (MFI) partners very carefully to make sure they don't encourage over indebtedness. We will work with MFIs to assist their clients in restructuring loans if necessary. the default rate so far is 0%

That MFI partners are too profit driven. One of the criteria for which organisations we work with is that they have a very strong social mission and we do a quarterly social audit.

    Reporting

Individual lenders and donors through lendwithcare.org website receive monthly emails detailing their entrepreneurs loan repayments and a narrative report during or at the end of the loan term.

We will provide a summary report on the success of lendwithcare overall.
