Using Social Networks to reach People in Need
Our organisation is using social media networks to reach a larger audience in providing online psychological self-management skills. The project is engaging with marginalised groups using online learning tools to provide equal access and equal opportunity to people worldwide
November 2010 - December 2013
Charity information: Health Psychology Management Organisation Services
The project is solving the problem of lack of instant access to online psychological training for people from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds. We are targeting people from around the world to use information at the same time to improve their lives, hence improve their quality of life. Reaching people from around the world through the web is an innovative idea that provides an alternative to traditional support. The Web is increasingly an essential resource for many aspects of life
Our organisation will engage in providing online training on psychological self-management skills for 7days a week with interactions from our target groups. Such interactions will allow people to engage and be involve in shaping the information that is provided. The Web would be used for delivering training, but also for providing information and interacting with others. It is essential that the Web is accessible in order to provide equal access and equal opportunity

What success will look like
Success will be reaching over 300,000 people online subscribing to our social media networks with feedback in improving their quality of life
The project will offer benefits to younger and older users and other individuals with varrying disabilities, as well as organisations. Older users with age-related accessibility needs are an increasingly important customer base for us. We will demonstrate the success of this project by monitoring the number of online users from around the world. Success will be defined by 300,000 people gaining knowledge and improving their quality of life
There is the risk that some people might not have the face-to-face contact and might be isolated being on their own. However, we have dealt with this by creating a discussion forum to ensure that people are interacting online with each other all the time
Funders of this project will receive a quarterly email report on the project detailing the ongoing feedback and the number of people reached and how the information provided is improving their quality of life and any necessary changes to the project
