Production and distribution of Network.
We represent and support late-deafened people who often feel isolated and are grateful for the news and stories that help to keep them connected to other deafened people and to the hearing world. Members' subscriptions are not sufficient to cover Network and our campaigning costs.
National Association of Deafened People
To overcome the isolation felt by people who grew up in a hearing world but later lost their hearing more or less completely and to make them feel connected to an organisation that is working in many ways to help them to integrate into a hearing world.
Network magazine keeps its readers in touch with what our organisation is doing on their behalf, assures them that other people with similar problems have found it possible to overcome those problems and at the same time provides interesting and relevant reading. All this helps to overcome the feeling of isolation that deafened people experience.
Assembly and publication of Network magazine
Activities» Continue to collect or create relevant material and continue the publication of Network and its distribution to members.
Success will be assessed in terms of the number of members we can attract or retain and their own assessment of the value of Network.
We would hope to attract more members through shared copies of Network, copies left in waiting rooms, etc. and thus gain a more complete representation of late-deafened people to help in the work we do on their behalf.
Main risks are shortage of funds and shortage of material for publication. The first could be met for a time by drawing on reserves, the second by encouraging more people to provide articles, stories and news items.
We are happy to provide donors with copies of Network should they so desire and to report on the progress of the project as often as required.

People with a profound acquired hearing loss. This covers a whole range of income groups and age brackets but elderly people tend to predominate.
We have been representing late-deafened people for over 25 years and have detailed knowledge of their requirements. Network has been published continuously over that period and is much appreciated and valued by those who receive it.
