Tunbridge Wells Street Pastors

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to listen, care and help

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to share Jesus’ love with the people of Tunbridge Wells town
centre and surrounding communities by spending time listening
to them on the streets and offering practical care and help.

Teams of trained and equipped Street Pastors (church members from 22 churches across our town) volunteer a minimum of one night a month, usually from 10pm to 4am. A team goes out every Friday night and two Saturday nights per month. We work in partnership with the police, council, night time economy initiative, local pub and club owners and other partners in the community.

In 2011 we handed out 200 pairs of flip flops, 3,000 lollipops, picked up 900 glass bottles, administered first aid to a large number of people, helped a lot of vulnerable people get home and supported the police by finding missing people and calming tense situations down.

Each team is supported by 2 shifts of prayer pastors who pray for the team from the base in the High Street.
