GLADE is a locally based educational charity providing global learning and development education for schools, early years settings, community and youth groups. We bring global issues to a local level
GLADE aims to enhance awareness and understanding of the diversity, richness and interdependence of the world and to equip people with the skills to enable them to collaborate to bring about sustainable change in local and global society.
We sustain and develop global resources and collections of everyday items from world countries, for use by early years settings, schools, youth and community groups and individuals. We provide training and demonstrations to promote appropriate and compelling use of development education materials and methodologies. Outreach and educational programmes are devised for lifelong learning opportunities, including activities for raising multicultural, anti racist and environmental awareness. We inspire, support and promote north-south linking, with international and global partners to take place in activities which help people understand more about the role of Somerset, the South West Region in the world. We collaborate with partner agencies at all levels to provide forums for discussion, enquiry and action on global, sustainable and environmental issues that impact on us all. We seek to provide opportunities for people to take local action on global and local issues.
GLADE Centre aims to:
- to equip people with the skills to enable them to work together to bring about change at local and global level
