Buttle UK

Buttle UK is a charity dedicated to helping children and young people who are in crisis reach their potential by making small, targeted and effective individual grants. Our support typically focuses on three main groups: estranged young people, families affected by domestic abuse and children living with kinship carers. We also provide educational grants to support Boarding Places for children living in extremely complex and challenging family circumstances.

Founded 1953

  • Mission statement

The beneficiaries of Buttle UK are children and young people who are ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, who are seriously disadvantaged by their circumstances, and who are in need of financial assistance for essential home items or for education. In respect of educational grants there is a preference for children who are, or were, adopted, and children of lone parents or who are orphaned, and who have been, or are being, deprived of a normal family life.

  • Aims

    Buttle UK aims to:

    • Buttle UK aims to meet the needs of children and young people living in crisis. Through our grants we hope to create a turning point in their lives, improving their wellbeing and educational chances.
    • In 2014 Buttle UK trustees set a strategic objective to “increase the impact of each grant we make”, leading to an increase in the value of the grants that we make.
