Mission statement
The Link Visiting Scheme has been established in order to combat social isolation amongst older people in the Wokingham Borough.
-
Aims
Link Visiting Scheme aims to:
- We provide social opportunities that encourage people to get out and mix with their peers - at pub lunches, at coffee mornings, and at seasonal parties.
- We do this by providing each person with a volunteer who will visit them in their home - to chat, to go out for coffee, and so become a supportive, listening friend.
- Combat social isolation and to promote the welfare of primarily elderly persons who are isolated from society.
- We provide basic one to one tuition in the use of computers, believing that this provides a valuable means of communication and a window on the world.
