Neema School (kenya) Trust

The Trust raises funds to build and support the Neema School in Kikambala Mombasa Kenya. This is a free school to help a very poor community and orphans living in the extended family.

Founded 2007

  • Mission statement

The fund has been set up to help very poor families who cannot afford to send their children to school. Often orphans living within the extended family are the last to get any education, some do not receive any at all.
The families cannot afford the uniforms or the exam fees or the books and pencils. All these will be provided by the trust. The first two classrooms of the school are completed and one has been opened to provide 60 children with their first education. We still need regular funds to pay for the teachers. We want to employ a second teacher to open the next classrooms but need more funds. We also want to start a feeding programme so the children receive at least one meal a day. We are raising funds at the moment to have desks built as the children are sitting on the concrete floor. We have the foundations dug for a further 3 classrooms which we hope to start building soon. Eventually we would like to set up burseries to send the more able children on to secondery school. These schools are long distances apart so often children have to be sent away to board. This is too expensive for most families in mombasa.

  • Aims

Neema School (kenya) Trust aims to:

    • To raise funds to complete the building of the next three classrooms. This will provide the area with baby class and kindergarten classes 1--5. The children can then move into primary education.
    • To provide bursaries to enable the more able students to go to secondary school.
    • To have sufficient regular donations coming in to pay for the 4 members of staff - 2 teachers, one gardener/ caretaker and a night security guard.
