Birtenshaw Hall (childrens charitable trust)

Birtenshaw is a registered charity and children’s services organisation.
Our mission is to create a brighter future for children with special needs.

We provide a range of specialist integrated services for children and young people with a profound and multiple learning difficulty or a significant physical disability.

The two core services operated by Birtenshaw are a special school and a number of children’s homes. The children’s homes can offer children with special needs full-time, long-term care or positive short breaks in a homely, caring environment. The services in the school and children’s homes are complimented by the provision of specialist health related therapies such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, rebound therapy and speech and language therapy.

Our dedication to creating a brighter future for children with special needs is based on the notion of ‘ordinary life principles’, in other words, we believe that disabled children should have the same learning and social opportunities as all other children. The child’s physical or learning disability should not prevent them from taking part in activities that other children are so fond of.
