Action Space London Events Limited

Action Space is London's leading visual arts organisation for artists with learning disabilities. We support them to create, exhibit and sell their art, whilst enriching their lives at the same time.

Founded 1984

  • Mission statement

Action Space support artists with learning disabilities through a range of art projects, covering all of the visual art disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, multi-media and ceramics. We run specialist projects for young people with learning disabilities, people with profound learning disabilities and people with autism.

Action Space's core programme is the Studio Project. We are running five Studio Projects, which offer artists with a range of learning disabilities, such as Down Syndrome, brain injuries and autism, an on-going opportunity to develop their creative practices. These Studio Projects are delivered in studio complexes, professional artist tutors are employed to run the sessions and to mentor the emerging artists. We provide access to high quality art materials and equipment and cultivate partnerships with galleries to create exhibition and professional development opportunities.

Action Space enriches lives by developing creativity. Our artists gain a sense of their own potential, as do those around them. Over time, their self-esteem increases and their social isolation is reduced.
