Home-Start Babergh provides tailored one to one support to families who are experiencing difficulties i. E. Post natal depression, mental health issues, learning disabilities, domestic violence, terminal illness, isolation, low self esteem, family breakdown and multiple births etc. , and have at least one child 5 years old or under.
Support is offered through our network of fully trained volunteers who visit the families in their own home providing confidential, non judgemental support, working with the family to empower them to become confident and happy parents which helps to encourage parent/child bonding.
In addition to our core home visiting support, we are able to offer help to families who do not wish for a volunteer, the opportunity to receive support through one of our Family Groups. At these groups families have the opportunity to speak in confidence to our Family Group Leader, Playworker or a volunteer, whilst their children are able to interact with their peers. These groups enable the families to develop a network of friends and their own support structure within their local community.
Home-Start offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children, in local communities throughout the Babergh District.
Home-Start offers a unique service. We recruit and train volunteers who are usually parents themselves to visit families at home who have at least one child under 5 and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support.
To help give children the best possible start in life, Home-Start supports parents as they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links with the local community.
Home-Start Babergh’s aim is by working collaboratively with health services, social care professionals, and other voluntary agencies that we can build and strengthen families’ abilities to overcome their current difficulties and go on to raise the next generation into a happy and healthy society.
