Do Good Charity
Do Good Charity
We sponsor nurse training & support vulnerable and disadvantaged people: - with learning and physical disabilities, with psychiatric problems, who are homeless or destitute to achieve their potential
The mission of Do Good Charity, the fundraising arm in Britain for the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, is to raise funds for its charitable works in Britain and Africa and to articulate its ethos, values and philosophy.
The Order is dedicated to the provision of welfare, social, health and education services. It has a mission to ensure that persons availing of its services receive the highest quality care, treatment, education, training or assistance in accordance with their needs.
Staff and volunteers embrace a multicultural and interfaith coexistence and through our facilities, offer an accepting space that encourages dreams and reflects these founding values:
Compassion, hospitality, justice, respect and trust
Our Vision is of a hospitable society where individual needs (mental, physical and spiritual) are met without discrimination.
Do Good Charity aims to:
- In Africa we run general and psychiatric hospitals, static and outreach clinics, rehabilitation, child development and agricultural programmes, build schools, provide sanitation and clean water.
- In Britain we enable people with a range of special needs or are vulnerable to realise a better quality of life: one with dignity and opportunities to fulfil their potential, within their communities.
- We sponsor African Nurse Training in Sierra Leone & Malawi. These women and men are smart, ambitious people but who can't afford training fees to get on the first rung of the career ladder.
