Tamasha Theatre Company Limited

Touring British Asian Theatre Company

Founded 1989

  • Mission statement

Tamasha means “commotion”, creating a stir.
We fearlessly investigate personal stories of cultural difference and connection as rich and radical sources for theatre.
Tamasha aspires to theatre that has the multiple narratives and global perspectives of Britain’s evolving culture and audiences at its heart.
Our mission is to enable, create and deliver innovative art: propelling today’s unknown talent to become tomorrow’s leading artists. We aim to shape and challenge the mainstream.
We invest in new writing and in artists, enabling them to develop their uniquely subjective voices.
We create art from an evolving and distinctive intracultural practice that celebrates individual complexity.
We deliver bespoke training and tangible professional opportunities by embedding Tamasha Developing Artists (TDA) and learning and engagement activities at the centre of the company’s programme.
We mount inspiring productions of varying scale and genre.
Our mission is to look at contemporary experience through a wider cultural lens and to respond to a changed society that has embraced new diasporas.
We aspire to move beyond the achievements of our original USP to define British Asian perspectives and identities. Tamasha will speak to the controversies and challenges ahead.
