THOMAS (Those On The Margins Of A Society)

THOMAS (Those on the margins of a society) was established in 1993 to provide support to those who were at risk of losing their lives because of overwhelming addiction to drugs or alcohol and associated homelessness.
Since those early days, when we provided informal support to encourage recovery, we have developed and strengthened our provision. We now run recovery, rehabilitation, residential and support services in Blackburn, Salford, East and North Lancashire and Manchester, working with 500 people at any one time. We also have a national reach through EDGES, our magazine, our campaigning and awareness raising work and our website which shares messages of hope with individuals and families across the country.
THOMAS, now a registered charity enables people to rebuild their lives, move on from addiction to drugs or alcohol, and enjoy a life of recovery. By reaching out to those on the margins of a society who are so often overlooked we are able to literally save and heal shattered lives.
We remain focused on providing opportunities for change, enabling those we support to repair self-esteem, dignity and self-respect as they commit to turn their lives around and address the drug, alcohol, crime, housing and other issues they face. Many need a high degree of support to rebuild their lives and remain on the road to recovery.
