Hands On London
Hands On London
HandsOn London provides flexible volunteering opportunities in greater London through our easily-accessible website and online events calendar.
We aim to make it easy and accessible for anyone in London who wants to volunteer no matter what their schedule. Our volunteers help fill the gap for community groups in need of extra volunteers for their one-off and regular activities.
Volunteering is hugely beneficial for both volunteers and the people benefiting from their time and skills. Volunteer participation is also of crucial importance to the charity sector. However, it is often very difficult to find volunteering opportunities in the UK, especially if you have limited time. We provide opportunities that Londoners can take up once a year, or every day.
Founded in 2010, we are a registered charity that acts as an intermediary between not-for-profits, charities, community groups and volunteers (both individuals and corporates). We offer flexible and diverse volunteering opportunities in the greater London area. We source volunteers for charities' and community groups‘ ongoing projects and design and manage new projects that support these organisations.
In November 2011 we launched our first city-wide coat collection campaign, Wrap Up London, where we collected more than 2,800 coats from the public and redistributed these to more than 50 shelters and refuges across London. In 2015, 828 volunteers helped collect 13,905 coats from the public and companies and donated them to 111 refuges and shelters in Greater London.
Hands On London aims to:
- Passing on skills to disadvantaged groups, youth, and rehabilitating adults
- Making volunteering easy and accessible for anyone who wants to take part, no matter what their schedule
- Strengthening community cohesion through voluntary activities
- Supporting and strengthening the Third Sector by sourcing volunteers for their existing projects, and creating and managing new projects
