Children North East provides direct services that strengthen and empower children and young people in their families, schools and communities. This includes youth services such as peer mentoring, counselling and information, advice and guidance, parental training and support for families in crisis.

  • Mission statement

    Children North East is the region's longest established children's charity - founded in 1891 as the Poor Children's Holiday Association. Our Chariable Objectives are:

    1. To promote the general health, education and development of children, young people and their families and carers living in the North East of England, the rest of the United Kingdom and such as other locations as the trustees of the Charity determine from time to time through the provisionof a range of services, training and development opportunites for children, young people, their mothers, fathers, carers and the professionals who work with them; and

    2. To educate the public and professionals in child welfare issues.

    Children North East exists:
    1. To provide high quality, evidence-based services that support improvement in the quality of the lives of children, young people and their families; and

    2. To contribute to the knowledge and understanding of effective ways of helping children, young people and their families to meet their needs and achieve their potential.
