Animate Projects is the only arts charity in the UK dedicated to championing animation.

  • Mission statement

    Animate Projects exists to:
    *support and promote innovative creative practice in animation, film and digital moving image; developing opportunities for artists to create new work;
    *advance the education of the public in experimental animation presenting work through digital platforms;
    *promote public engagement with art and creativity, stimulating interest and leading critical debate in artists’ animation;
    *establish exemplar procedures for support of artists’ moving image practice;
    *maintain, develop, and ensure access to, the AnimateTV Collection of British experimental animation;
    *maintain an archive of our work and ensure an active legacy;
    *explore the potential of digital technologies for creative practice and distribution;
    *contextualise and educate on the creative and production process, and on the histories and relations of animation practice.

    Animate Projects Limited aims to:

    • To support artists to take creative risk, to explore new forms, tools and processes so they can extend and redefine what animation is, and create innovative new work.
    • To promote public engagement with art and creativity by presenting work and contextualising materials on digital platforms, stimulating interest and leading critical debate in artists’ animation.
    • To maintain, develop, and ensure access to, the Animate Collection, the premier online resource of British experimental animation.
