  • Mission statement

The Barn Owl Trust aims to conserve the Barn Owl and its environment. We promote biodiversity by creating and enhancing natural habitats for wild Barn Owls and associated wildlife. We collect local data, publish research, and engage in practical conservation work, education and professional training. We offer a free information and advice service.

We promote awareness of environmental issues and a respect for nature.

We also provide a live owl emergency service, take in casualties and run a small sanctuary for owls unable to survive in the wild. (This is a genuine owl sanctuary - a place of peaceful retreat that's not open to the public).
The Barn Owl Trust also owns and manages 26 acres of land (The Lennon Legacy Project; purchased with a legacy in 2001) for Barn Owls and other wildlife.

Despite having a small team of professional staff and being consulted by government, the Barn Owl Trust is still a grass-roots voluntary organisation that prides itself on the sheer amount of practical work it does. From erecting nesting boxes to creating ideal habitats, providing quality care for casualty owls to innovative research and thought provoking educational work to specialist training for professionals - the Barn Owl Trust leads the field.
