Basingstoke Neighbourcare

NeighbourCare Basingstoke provides accompanied, caring transport of elderly and vulnerable people who cannot use public transport to attend medical appointments, essential shopping and social events

Founded 1997

  • Mission statement

NeighbourCare supports elderly and vulnerable people to reduce their social isolation and helps them to attend medical appointments so they can receive medical advice and stay healthy. Our arranged transport service takes requests and matches them to our volunteer drivers. Our clients rely on our special service to help them reach their destination safely. Our drivers also are giving support and feel fulfilled as a result. Our befriending supports lonely people who can be vulnerable and cut off from friends and social events without our specially trained volunteers. Our transport service is offered free of charge if the client cannot afford a small donation. Our drivers are CRB checked and trained in helping older people. Befriending volunteers are carefully matched to clients and the befriending activity is carefully monitored.

  • Aims

    Basingstoke Neighbourcare aims to:

    • Ensure all transport requests can be honoured within 2 days of the telephoned request. To accomplish this we require more drivers in appropriate areas of Basingstoke and funds to pay their mileage.
    • To find enough befrienders and the funds to support a specialist to recruit and train and monitor their activity
