RFKM is a working museum, the only surviving example of a 19th century knitters' yard with cottages, frameshops, outbuildings and gardens, built in 1829. Knitting continued here into the 1920s.

  • Mission statement

    We offer the oportunity to step back 150 years in time, to when framework knitting was one of the main inductries in the East Midlands, and Ruddington the most important knitting village in South Notts. The living and working conditions are brought to life, providing an educational experience for old and young. Machines are kept in working order and demonstrated to visitors and a Research Library provides important documentation on knitting history.
