Birmingham Conservation Trust

Birmingham Conservation Trust finds imaginative and sustainable solutions to preserve Birmingham's rich and diverse heritage of buildings, saving and restoring buildings at risk.

Founded 1977

  • Mission statement

Birmingham Conservation Trust exists to preserve and enhance Birmingham’s threatened architectural heritage and to promote an enjoyment and understanding of the City’s historic buildings.

We work with local people to combine community needs with heritage activities to find sustainable futures for buildings at risk. We are keen to encourage participation and volunteering to increase knowledge and enjoyment of Birmingham's built heritage and to ensure the Trust has a vibrant and viable future based on its supporters.
We aim to create better places in which to live, work and play and enhance local distinctiveness, by empowering communities within the city to help improve their environment for the better. Our work can act as a catalyst for urban regeneration in rundown areas.

We also work in partnership with businesses, industry and the voluntary sector to contribute to the local economy by drawing funds into the City and encouraging tourism and leisure. Our restoration projects combine the best of modern design with the use of traditional construction skills.

We actively seek to encourage access and promote enjoyment of the City’s historic buildings by opening our projects for Heritage Open Days every year. Throughout the year, we give talks and tours to local groups and stage events and exhibitions linked to our projects.
