Aidis Trust

Aidis Trust works throughout the UK helping severely disabled people to live more independent and inclusive lives by helping them to use modern computer technology.

Founded 1975

  • Mission statement

Aidis helps some of the most vulnerable members of society; those disadvantaged as a result of severe disability and poverty. We help them to lead more independent, less isolated lives through adaptive Information and Communication Technology.

We have been doing this since 1975 when we were founded to help a boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. As his condition deteriorated he found that he could no longer hold a pen but he wanted to continue his education and his writing. The Aidis Trust raised money and gave him a piece of then very modern technology – an electric typewriter. Since then quite a lot has changed in the world of technology. By being able to just blink or move a finger, a severely disabled person can use modern computers and software to communicate both in speech and in writing, live more independently, learn on-line, work from home, shop and make contact with services, friends, family and support networks.

  • Aims

    Aidis Trust aims to:

    • To deliver services for disabled people that ensure they can take advantage of modern computer technology
