Addoldai Cymru

Ymddireidolaeth Addoldai Cymru is a charity which was brought into being in response to the alarming scale of redundancy amongst Wales’ rich heritage of Nonconformist chapels. Its principal remit is to take into care a selection of redundant chapels of exceptional quality, to undertake any necessary repairs, and to make them available for appropriate community use.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

We have acquired eight redundant chapels across Wales and across denominations that are in need of major repair work. We continue to work to secure the funding needed for repair and development of each of our buildings and to identify new uses, returning them to the cultural heart of their communities. We rely on the goodwill of local people in order to achieve our aims. We need your help not only in trying to secure the necessary funding and to find new uses, but to tell the stories of these remarkable buildings.

  • Aims

    Addoldai Cymru aims to:

    • The Trust's secondary remit is to act as an advisory body for living congregations and to raise awareness and appreciation of Wales' Nonconformist heritage
    • Its principal remit is to take into care a selection of redundant chapels of exceptional quality, to undertake any necessary repairs, and to make them available for appropriate community use.
