Red Balloon Learner Centre Group

Red Balloon Learner Centre Group sets up therapeutic learning environments, physical and virtual, for young people aged 10 to 17 who self-exclude from school because they have been severely bullied.

Founded 2005

  • Mission statement

The aim of Red Balloons is the recovery of bullied children. We provide an ‘intensive care’ full-time education for children aged between 10 and 17 who are unable to go to school because they have been severely bullied. We promise the students whom we accept a safe environment with clear boundaries for behaviour, and an individual full-time academic, pastoral and therapeutic programme. Once the students have regained their confidence and are able to cope academically and socially, we support them in their return to mainstream school, their entry to further education
    or to employment.

  • Aims

Red Balloon Learner Centre Group aims to:

    • To raise public and governmental awareness of the fact that there are 16,000 children and young people who self-exclude from mainstream school because they have been severely bullied.
    • To raise capital funding in order to set up Learner Centres in which those young people can recover from the effects of bullying, get back on an academic track, and return to mainstream education.
    • To support all Red Balloon Learner Centres by recruiting staff, running induction programmes, ensuring consistency in our philosophy and practice .
