  • Mission statement

    The National Youth Jazz Collective is a young and vibrant National Youth Music
    Organisation specialising in small group jazz improvisation. Its mission is to support the creative and educational needs of the nation’s young jazz musicians through a coherent and inspirational pathway of streamed study, from first access to young professionals, progressing from the Collective’s national network of regional jazz hubs through to the highly competitive annual National Youth Jazz Summer School and annual programme of high profile professional level performances, all supported by bespoke programmes of Continuing Professional Development designed to support the needs of the young jazz musicians’ teachers and music leaders.

    The National Youth Jazz Collective aims to:

    • To arrange jazz performances in venues to which young persons may be admitted.To provide jazz workshops and summer schools for young people, and opportunities for public performance by young jazz musicians;
    • Develop national and regional outreach projects and a network of expert jazz educators through provision of training for music teachers;
    • To provide guidance and support for young musicians;
    • To arrange jazz performances in venues to which young persons may be admitted.
