Wiltshire Scrapstore And Resource Centre

We are a children's community charity with an environmental ethos, working across Wiltshire particularly in disadvantaged areas, using creativity to reuse and recycle resources destined for landfill.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

The Mission of The Wiltshire Scrapstore is to collect resources destined for landfill both from the manufacturing process and through household recycling to give them a second life by offering them to children, families and community groups. We have a warehouse base and a mobile scrapstore that visits communities across Wiltshire to ensure that everyone, particularly those hardest to reach parts of Wiltshire have access to these resources.
We promote the use of these resources as a valuable and creative way to support educational attainment. We aim to work with partner organisations such as schools, children's centres, family support workers etc to target vulnerable children and families, helping to re engage with learning and positive behaviour/ social interaction through fun and creativity.
Our mission is to support learning through a creative environmental approach, offering opportunities for understanding the reuse, reduce, recycle ethos in all aspects of our work.
We embrace a large number of volunteers with a wide variety of backgrounds who work to promote the Scrapstore and its ethos across the county. Whilst we gain a huge amount from our volunteers we also aim to provide them with a supportive environment to allow for individual growth and a rewarding experience. We particularly engage with teenagers offering many opportunities for working within the charity to explore their skill base and find ways into paid employment.
