  • Mission statement

    The Orangutan Tropical Peatland Project works to protect one of the most important areas of tropical rainforest in Borneo - the Sabangau Forest in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. We monitor the distribution, population status, behaviour and ecology of the forest's flagship ape species, carry out biodiversity and forestry research, and work with local partners to implement conservation solutions.

  • Aims

    The Orangutan Tropical Peatland Trust aims to:

    • MAINTAIN AND ENHANCE THE RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT ON-GOING RESEARCH SUCCESS AND ENABLE ENHANCED RESEARCH CAPABILITIES AT ALL OUTROP RESEARCH SITES.
    • TO PROMOTE: THE PRESERVATION, CONSERVATION AND THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE PRUDENT USE OF RESOURCES FOR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES IN INDONESIAN BORNEO
    • TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC REGARDING TROPICAL BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION IN INDONESIAN BORNEO AND TO PROMOTE THE STUDY AND RESEARCH OF THE SAME
    • TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THE CONSERVATION PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT BY PROMOTING BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY IN INDONESIAN BORNEO.
