The Honeypot Children's Charity

Honeypot provides desperately needed respite breaks and long term support to young carer’s and very vulnerable children. We support children whose childhoods have been lost and provide respite care and support throughout those childhood years. They will learn life skills, build friendships and create lasting memories that they can cherish. There are an estimated 175,000 registered Young Carers in the UK. Help give these children their chance at childhood.

Founded 1996

  • Mission statement

Honeypot’s vision is for every child to make the most of their one chance at childhood. The children who visit Honeypot are aged 5-12 years and have experienced a variety of challenges in their lives Our approach considers every aspect of an child’s wellbeing by listening to and supporting their choices.

Honeypot is unique in the UK, as we are the only children’s charity that provides a programme of long term, consistent respite and support to children.

Every year, we work with around 1,000 children from Scotland, London, the South and South East of England. We must raise over £1million each year to provide our services, for which we receive no direct government funding.

Since 1996 we have grown year-on-year and have been able to offer ongoing support to over 8,000 children in this time. Recent research outlined the need for Honeypot and that children who came to Honeypot were happy, their self-esteem was increased and they were much more able to cope with their situations at home.

  • Aims

The Honeypot Children's Charity aims to:

    • We have helped and continue to work with thousands of children from across the UK. Most of our children are young carers who juggle school and growing up whilst performing a surrogate adult role at home. Many care for a chronically or terminally ill loved one, or have a parent with drug, alcohol or mental health problems. Some will have been in a caring role from as young as 5 years old, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer a programme of long term, personalised and consistent support that gives hope and encouragement to these children. This includes a holiday once a year, birthday cards, photos, Christmas presents and visits from our Playbus.
