  • Mission statement

Birmingham Museums aims to give local people and visitors the chance to be inspired by the museums of Birmingham. These museums are Aston Hall, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Blakesley Hall, Museum Collections Centre, Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, Sarehole Mill, Soho House, Thinktank and Weoley Castle.

From the Anglo-Saxon gold, a magnificent Jacobean manor house and Pre-Raphaelite masterpieces to a perfectly preserved jewellery factory, Spitfire, digital Planetarium and Science Garden, Birmingham Museums offer truly inspirational and mind boggling days out.

Hundreds of local schools benefit from our education programmes and countless families discover stories such as the Staffordshire Hoard. We aim to put communities and young people the heart of our decision-making through our Youth Forum, Community Advisory Panel and local engagement.

We care for a collection is of national and international significance, and increasingly rely on individual donations for projects such as new galleries, conservation and major projects. Our aims are big - we want to develop into a regional centre of excellence in conservation, not only in our collections but also by sharing knowledge and expertise.
