East Neuk Festival
East Neuk Festival
East Neuk Festival was founded in 2004 in order to promote a small arts festival of international quality and standing in the East Neuk of Fife.
The award-winning and critically-acclaimed East Neuk Festival presents world-class arts events in the East Neuk of Fife. It aims to provide the highest standard of live arts for residents of East Fife and to attract significant numbers of visitors to the area.
The Festival developed from an annual short summer series of concerts given in the area by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and was subsequently independently founded in 2004. It has hosted some of the world’s greatest artists and consequently its audience has grown year on year since its inception. In 2011 we entertained over 8,500 visitors to the Festival.
The festival focuses on classical chamber music but has also presented world, jazz, folk and electronica. It has commissioned films, exhibitions and art installations and featured literature events and guided walks.
The festival takes great pride in ensuring that the high standards on-stage are matched by the care and consideration given to all its attendees (most of whom return year after year).
It uses a range of venues throughout the East Neuk so that this charming part of the world becomes better known to a greater number of people, with businesses and the wider community benefiting from this.
East Neuk Festival aims to:
- To present excellent artists of a level of comparable with other international festivals.
- To offer a close-up, engaging experience in all arts forms.
- To celebrate the cultural riches and heritage of Fife and Scotland while bringing excellent work from all over the world to the area.
- To programme events and works that draw on the heritage, buildings, history and landscape of the area.
