Over The Wall

Over The Wall is a national charity providing free life-changing Therapeutic Recreation camps for children affected by serious and life-limiting illnesses, their siblings and families.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

Over The Wall provides free Therapeutic Recreation camps in the UK to children aged 8 to 17 who are affected by life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses. OTW is a member of the SeriousFun Children's Network, an international family of camps. Our week-long residential activity camps boost the children's confidence, giving them access to a range of activities which would otherwise be unavailable to them, whilst making friends and building a support network with other children who have been denied the right to a healthy and care-free childhood. Siblings are often, understandably, overlooked and have to share the responsibility of helping to care for the seriously ill child. Our Siblings Camps allow the brothers and sisters of seriously ill children to feel included and share their experiences with those who share the same challenges and concerns.

Over The Wall is unique as it is the only charity in the UK offering a fully supported, medically supervised programme covering such a wide range of illnesses which include genetic and blood disorders, cancers, muscle wasting conditions, auto immune disorders, diseases of the nervous system, neurological conditions and chronic organ specific conditions. We also aim to offer our service to children affected by very rare illnesses where the support available to them is limited or non-existent.

Over The Wall’s goal is to be able to provide this free service to as many qualifying children in the UK as possible.
