Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre Ltd

Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre Limited (hereafter referred to as Dundee Rep) sits at the cultural heart of Scotland and the City of Dundee. Founded in 1939, the Rep building is a hive of creative energy, a space for engagement with a wide range of art forms, whilst also playing a lead role in arts education and engagement across the city and beyond. Our theatre is home to our permanent ensemble of multi-award-winning actors who produce six productions each year and our permanent company

  • Mission statement

Dundee Rep’s model is unique. Having a permanent acting ensemble is rare (unique in Scotland), but combined with a dance company and extensive creative learning, it makes the Rep building one of a kind. The cross-pollination of the ensemble-ethos is evident across the Company. Our dancers, actors, creative learning practitioners and team members share ideas as well as a space.

A former industrial city in decline, Dundee is now undergoing a rapid transformation where the arts and cultural investment hold the key to its resurgence. It is a UNESCO City of Design and hosts the new V&A Museum of Design, opening in September 2018. Dundee Rep is integral to the evolution of the city, and the historic centre of its artistic heart and soul.

The organisation is led by two joint Artistic Director/CEOs, Andrew Panton and Fleur Darkin. Together – supported by a highly experienced Senior Management Team – they manage 78 full-time and 29 part-time staff. Collectively, our vision is to deliver unmissable experiences for the curious, with a commitment to engage, support and take risks.

Across the organisation, our highly respected Creative Learning programme is one of the largest in Scotland. It delivers a range of activities over four developmental strands – dramatherapy, participation and young artists, education and pathways, and community, health and well-being – and engages with an average of 27,000 participants a year.
