EPOC creates opera for, by and wirh children. Our large scale cross-curricular programmes are tailored to the needs of schools and communities to achieve maximum cultural and educational impact.

    MISSION STATEMENT
    English Pocket Opera Company exists to:
    • Inspire and facilitate the creation of high quality opera and music education experiences for, by and with children, young people and communities
    • Work in partnership with schools, LEAs, Music Services and other arts and education providers to create multi-faceted, in-depth arts education programmes, tailored specifically to need
    • Adopt a non-traditional, and non-western-centric definition of opera, that can therefore accommodate all kinds of musical traditions, and be accessible to all

    English Pocket Opera Company Ltd aims to:

    • • Create wholly positive and accessible arts and music experiences that develop participants’ confidence, build communication skills, raise aspirations and help realise full potential
    • • Employ the highest possible standards in both educational practice and artistic outcomes, to ensure maximum levels of ownership and pride in what is produced
    • • Offer training and apprenticeship opportunities for those studying to work in the arts and education sectors, to ensure the field has a good supply of dedicated, up-and-coming talent
    • • Work inclusively, with a focus on seeking out people from disadvantaged and culturally diverse backgrounds, and those who would not normally engage with the arts, or opera in particular
    • • Build on good practice, and constantly seek new and innovative ways to integrate the work of young people with that of professional artists in final performance and exhibition outcomes
