The Livewire Trust

The Livewire Trust (Livewire) is a community youth theatre offering young people (aged 13-25) a regular programme of free workshops where they learn and develop theatrical skills which are transferable and relevant. Livewire has now been in operation since 2000 and we have been a charity since 2004. In our town there are no organisations that offer the services that livewire do for free. We believe that the arts should be available to everyone regardless of economic status or ability. We strive to bring young people to livewire who have had little or no contact with the arts before. Through using theatrical projects we aim to improve confidence in our members, improve self esteem, skills in all areas, especially skills that promote responsibility, aspirations, team work and self motivation.

All Livewire activities are free to its users. This is achieved by constant fundraising efforts by the trustees of the organisation. Livewire does not only target young people with a drama interest. Livewire aims to build confidence, self-esteem, teambuilding and leadership skills as well as offer young people the opportunity to learning performing skill and techniques. At a result, Livewire successfully attracts some of the most disadvantaged young people from across Harlow.
