AC support education & cricket projects in Afghanistan. AC build and equip schools and work with teachers and local communities to promote education. AC build cricket pitches in schools & runs camps.
The aim of Afghan Connection is to bring hope and opportunity to a generation of young people in Afghanistan through education and cricket projects.
The right of every child to have an education is at the heart of what Afghan Connection is trying to achieve. Since 2002, we have funded the building of 39 schools across Afghanistan for over 50,000 children and twinned 20 Afghan schools with schools in the UK, a highly successful project that promotes awareness and understanding between the children in both countries. We work closely with the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, a Non Governmental Organisation which has been present in Afghanistan for 30 years.
Afghan Connection aims to:
- To improve educational opportunities for children, especially girls, in the district of Worsaj, Afghanistan through school construction, teacher training and access to education for rural communities.
- To create a better understanding between children in Afghanistan and children in UK schools. Through our projects, we have linked over 16,000 children in the UK to children in Afghanistan.
- AC aims to use its decade of experience to create credible, replicable and successful educational models, particularly for girls, in other districts in Afghanistan.
- To promote peace and bring joy to the children of Afghanistan through the provision of cricket facilities and coaching camps. We are supported by the MCC and the Afghan National Cricket Team.
