Southwick Neighbourhood Youth Project (SNYP)

S. N. Y. P. Began in 1979 in response to the identified needs of the young people of the area. We are committed to being a project which is consistently available for the young people throughout their period of development, from attending Junior sessions through to employment and training support. Creating an environment in which the hardest to reach and those who reject any official/statutory provision, can feel welcome and safe, whilst building non judgemental relationships with the workers and volunteers, based on respect, honesty and openess, learning how to make well informed choices about their future with the additional support they may need. On average we work with 472 individual young people annually.
Workers and management committee see all young people as individual and strive to remain a project which belongs to the young people, thereby fostering a sense of ownership and self-worth, working to remain independant and able to work with young people without imposing any agenda set by workers or other adults. We welcome further interest or visits to the project.
